Overview
PS 5100.5Y Precision Balance
The PS 5100.5Y Precision Balance is a completely new design created for users who require uncompromising measurement accuracy while being able to weigh heavier loads. The device is based on an enlarged monoblock – an element which is responsible for the balance’s stability and accuracy. Thanks to this solution, it has been possible to create a design ensuring stable weighing of loads up to 5.1 kg with a readability of 1 mg. This is a real achievement in this device class.
Absolute Stability, Analytical Precision
The use of a new, larger monoblock has significantly increased the rigidity of the entire measuring system and its resistance to vibrations and external factors. In practice, this means not only high measurement accuracy, but also result repeatability and greater reading stability even at maximum load. As a result, the PS 5100.5Y balance is ideal for applications where high capacity must be combined with analytical precision, such as:
1. Metrology and Calibration
To check whether an F1 or F2 class mass standard with a nominal mass of 5.1 kg retains its parameters, you need to use a device which detects differences of milligrams.
What is weighed: mass standards and weights in measurement laboratories.
Why: even a small scratch or dirt on a large mass standard can change its mass by a few milligrams, which disqualifies it in certification processes.
2. Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry
In the large-scale production of medicines or specialised polymers, where the base components are heavy, but the additives (active substances, catalysts) must be dosed with apothecary precision.
What is weighed: entire reaction vessels or containers with semi-finished products.
Why: a change in mass of 1 mg with a total mass of 5.1 kg allows the chemical composition to be maintained at the highest global level.
3. Environmental Testing and Filters
Although the filters themselves are light, they are sometimes weighed inside heavier covers or holders to avoid contamination from the air.
What is weighed: high-capacity air filters after the process of capturing suspended dust.
Why: this allows for precise determination of the increase in contaminant mass in relation to the large volume of the tested medium.
4. Quality Control in Modern Technologies
In the aviation or automotive industry, in the production of components of critical importance and low mass tolerance.
What is weighed: turbine blades, precision castings, pistons.
Why: even a minimal difference in mass in components rotating at high speeds can lead to vibrations and failure of the entire system.
Digital Weighing Auditor
Ensures that your balance is ready for use. It enables air buoyancy compensation in real-time. What is more, it informs about the need for a balance inspection or a periodic audit of the balance’s accuracy and sensitivity.
10-Inch Display
Bigger screen – 10’’ – means more information in one place. On the new ELLIPSIS terminal, you will see up to 3 screens, widgets, graphs, statuses, notes, handy measurement history. In addition, this series balances are equipped with a number of communication interfaces: 2 x USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
Uncompromising User Verification
For the first time ever, the balance will verify the user using a password, RFID card, fingerprint reader, facial recognition mechanism, or any combination of these. With these advanced verification options, our balance provides not only the highest level of security, but also convenience and customization to each user’s specific requirements.
Ambient Light – An Innovative Way for the Balance to Communicate With the User
The light colour will tell you about status, process results, procedures, or alerts.
Hotspot
Use the balance on any device connected to it. This can be a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Hotspot allows remote operation of the balance in case of lack of access to the terminal or fume cupboard, as well as in other challenging situations.
RFID
ELLIPSIS works with RFID tags* that can be used to tag your products or formulation ingredients in the database. They can also be used to identify a user. It is a weighing technology solution that combines state-of-the-art identification methods with practical solutions for everyday use.
Live Note – Note Down Your Conclusions
It’s the first time you can add a text memo to a measurement series or procedure report. These can be, for example, assumptions, reminders or questions that can be returned to at any time. Live Note in the 5Y series is a solution that raises the standard for documenting measurement results, enabling better management of information and enhancing the user experience.
Handy Library
This is where a series of recent measurements or a report ready for digital signature, according to 21 CFR Part 11, can be found.
Widgets
Prepared to display what you need most at any given moment.
Smart Min Weight
The balance displays whether the value of the weight you want to weigh is below or above the minimum weight threshold.
21 CFR Part 11
Do you work in the pharmaceutical industry? Do you need a digital signature?
We are offering the laboratory balance which as a standalone fully meets the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11/ EU GMP Annex 11.
– Full data security
– Electronic signatures
– Validations
– Electronic records
– Audit trails
Modbus TCP/IP
is one of the most popular communication protocols in industrial automation. Implementing it in the 5Y balances and CY10 scales makes the devices of this series friendly to automation integrators.
A balance or scale in a Modbus system is a slave device and performs tasks specified by the master device which is most often a PLC. Protocol Modbus TCP/IP in the 5Y balances and C10 scales enables, among other things, the realization of mass readout, zeroing and tare functions of the device, as well as tare settings and MIN and MAX thresholds.
Two-point adjustment
Adjacency, which takes place at two measurement points instead of one, improves measurement precision over the full weighing range. And what does this mean for you? More accurate measurement.
Under-pan weighing
Weighing instruments purchased after 15th February 2023 will allow under-pan weighing at any time after the purchase. All you need to do is just to order a dedicated hook.
